An asset-backed security (ABS) is a financial investment collateralized by a pool of cash-flow-generating assets, such as loans, leases, credit card balances or receivables. For credit unions and banks, loan participations offer an alternative to securitization: institutions can sell loan participations directly to other lenders on the LoanStreet Marketplace.
