Conditional Prepayment Rate (CPR)

The conditional prepayment rate (CPR) measures how quickly borrowers prepay or pay off their loans, expressed as an annualized percentage of the outstanding balance at the start of the period, after scheduled principal payments. CPR is widely used for mortgages and other loan types. LoanStreet Analytics provides loan prepayment speed analytics so lenders can compare actual CPRs with pricing assumptions, since prepayment speeds play a large role in total returns from any cohort of loans.
