Coupon

The coupon is the interest rate a borrower pays on a loan, expressed as an annual percentage. In a loan participation, the buyer typically receives the coupon minus the servicing spread retained by the seller. Coupon rates across a pool are summarized as the weighted average coupon (WAC).
