Letter of Credit

A letter of credit is a lender’s commitment to pay a third party on a borrower’s behalf if the borrower fails to meet a specified obligation. Letters of credit are often issued under a credit facility – more specifically, under the revolver – and reduce the amount the borrower can draw.
